Five of our finest dancers are given the amazing opportunity of participating in the first Indonesian “Dance Prix Indonesia” contemporary dance competition with judges from the US, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia as the host country. These five dancers of ours are the only ones with disabilities and have been in training since 2012, thus giving them a bit of time to learn and adjust especially that they are ranked as having low ability. They gave us proof that they can do it….and quite amazingly too.  To have reached so far and so high is truly amazing. We are so proud of them and of course of their teachers and parents for giving so much support and understanding and patience.

There were bazaar of every kind of goods being sold, and us ISDI of course is having fun.  There were many activities going for all ISDI and friends. The theme was “ I’m precious” and they are. It shows in all the activities being done.  There were dances of all kinds, fashion show where kids and young adults can show off their confidence walking the catwalk, there was an angklung performance, not to mention the many varieties of other activities such as decorating cookies with colorful icings, making rainbow loops bracelets, decorating bandos and so forth.  Everyone, DS and parents join in the activities and had so much fun.  Stalls selling products of ISDI were also doing well.  We sold umbrellas, T-shirts, blocknotes, oatmeal cookies, chocolate flowers and chocolate hand bouquets, we sold knitted jackets and beanies…all done by hand of our DS students.  Incredible…we’ve come a long way to be successful. Thanks to all those teachers, volunteers who stood by them unconditionally with so much patience, understanding and love urging each one to success.  It was such a proud day for us.

About Us

ISDI (Ikatan Sindroma Down Indonesia or Indonesian Down syndrome Society) was formally established on 21 st April 1999. A non-profit support group of parents, medical professions, special-needs experts, teachers, and all of those who have deep concern.

We, as parents are very concerned of the future of children with Down syndrome in Indonesia especially when little is done to support them by the government or other non-profit organizations.

We so look forward towards a better future by sharing our experiences and supporting each other in our monthly gatherings. This way we gain knowledge and our children benefit from our experiences.
